NILS Athlete Kim Reichhelm

ALASKA STORY

Several years ago I was attending Guide training in Alaska with Chugach Powder Guides. I was the only woman with a group of hardy, tobacco chewing, ski patrollers and heli-ski guides. After a morning of class room work we headed out on the hill for hands on training. It was pouring rain at the bottom of the mountain and snowing slush at the top. I showed up in a beautiful Nils 2 piece, matching outfit. The guys almost lost it they were laughing so hard at me. They thought there was no way I could look that good and stay dry. At the end of the session they all went in to dry off, I stayed out and skied because I was dry. Who says you can’t look good and get the job done.

TESTIMONIALS

ON FEATURES

I love all the features that come with my Nils skiwear. Lots of pockets in places that don’t make me look fat and over stuffed like the cargo pocket in the pants and the sleeve pockets in the jackets. The hoods work perfectly and can be zipped off on warm spring days. The soft fleece on the inside of my collar keeps my chin from getting chapped and just the right amount of insulation keeps me warm without being bulky.

The designers at Nils are always open to my ideas on how to make the product work better. With over 200 days a year on the slopes, skiing all kinds of conditions I demand a lot from my skiwear. At Nils they want to make the best product they can at a price we can afford. That's why I've been skiing in Nils clothing exclusively for over 10 years.

ON COMFORT

With so many different collections and several styles in each it's easy to find a design that works for my body type. From technical to high ski fashion I’m always comfortable. I don't like tight ski clothing but I still want a nice silhouette and a flattering look. Nils makes clothing that accommodates different body types. I can’t ski all day if I’m not warm, dry and comfortable. Nils takes care of all me needs from the base layer out.

ON FUNCTION

I love the fact that I'm warm, dry and comfortable in Nils clothing. You don't have to be in stiff fabric to be dry and Nils is breathable so I don't get hot. Nils has the best pockets, zips, hoods, and collars. I can take my cell phone, notepad, camera, two way radio, sun screen, lip balm, trail map and money and still have great shape in my jackets. When I’m on the hill I'm working so I need to be prepared for everything. Nils does a great job of providing pockets for my gear without taking away the beautiful lines in the clothing. I also love the fleece in the cuffs and collars. The hood construction is great for the ever changing weather.

ON PANTS

I also really like the pants. People ask me all the time if I'm wearing ski pants. I ski year round and demand a lot from my ski clothing. I have pants that I washed 20 times last year and they are still waterproof. The lines are clean and slimming. I'm never in a rush to change out of my ski clothing because my Nils clothing is as comfortable and stylie as my street cloths.

LASTLY...

The mountains are my office. For me there is not a better ski clothing company out there. I look good and I'm not making any compromises in warmth, function and comfort.
